The publication Myndlist brings together more than 450 works of art encountered across 21 private homes in Iceland. Conceived in a large-format edition, the book documents artworks embedded within domestic environments—homes shaped by collectors, artists, and individuals with a sustained engagement with contemporary art.
The publication forms part of an ongoing series by Gunnar Sverrisson and Halla Bára Gestsdóttir centred on the home as a site of personal authorship: a space continually composed through the arrangement of objects, images, furniture and accumulated histories. In this publication this enquiry turns specifically toward visual art and the ways in which artworks participate in the construction of a domestic environment. The selected works become carriers of memory, affinity, taste, and biography, contributing to the narratives through which a home—and the lives within it—can be read.
Through their work at Y, Olga Lilja Ólafsdóttir and Sigurður Atli Sigurðsson have fostered meaningful relationships with many of the individuals represented in the publication, often facilitating connections between collectors and artists. It was through these encounters that many of the private collections documented in the book first came into view.
