In her work Variations, Guðlaug makes music her inspiration and materialises musical
elements as sculpture. In an attempt to transform sound into material, length
could be pitch, fragmentation be rhythm and emptiness silence. The sculptural
elements of the works are open for musicological interpretation of the viewers,
as well as groups of musicians who will be tasked with interpreting the sculptures
in their own way during events at the festival. A
diverse group of musicians, ranging from 10 year olds up to adults, interpreted
the works through their own musical compositions.
