Styrmir creates drawings of fantasy landscape with a starting point in the four elements: fire, water, air, and earth. In his drawings, he does not try to recreate nature the way he sees it, but instead fantasies about it, creating an otherworldly landscape. The colorful and spiritual images enclose the viewer, it’s as if they could enter the landscape. Styrmir’s background in graffiti is clearly visible in his drawings and he still uses the same tools. Here, he uses ink on paper and the details are almost obsessive. As with his earlier works, his drawings tell stories which are often cosmic, supernatural, absurd, and even mysterious.
